“I welcome the decision by the Australian Tax Office not to tax elderly Aborigines and their descendants compensated by the NSW Aboriginal Trust Fund Repayment Scheme.”  

“The advice received today by the NSW Special Minister of State, Mr John Della Bosca, from the Australian Tax Office announcing a ruling on this matter provides some relief for those with claims before the panel.”

“I congratulate Minister Della Bosca and the Australian Tax Office staff for negotiating a just result for successful claimants,”  Mr Garrett said.
