In March I described the present school funding arrangements as a dog's breakfast. This week the Centre for Independent Studies called for a new resource standard for all schools. This followed a report that former education minister Brendan Nelson has now admitted the funding model he inherited was a stepping stone and that he always intended to "wean" private schools from the arrangements that maintained their funding at the old level.
