Out + about: a terrific day in Kingsford Smith

The wet weather didn't stop me having a terrific day out and about in Kingsford Smith.

At Matraville Sports High School I announced some Federal Government funding to Cricket Australia's No School No Play program.

After the announcement, I joined some students and teachers in a quick game of cricket.

It was a great pleasure to join residents for a welcome morning tea at some new social housing units in Matraville.

Hearing the stories of how these well-built, federally funded units have changed residents lives was uplifting.

I appreciated the generosity of the resident who allowed us to into her unit because of the heavy rain.

At Kanga's House, a UNSW childcare centre, I met with researchers whose project will examine factors associated with children's development.

Funding for this project, along with 114 others, was recently announced by the Federal Government in an Australian Research Council grants round.

At La Perouse Public School, I attended a presentation for participants in the federally funded Parental and Community Engagement program.

Koori Communications and Training’s Parental Bridging Program involved parents, grandparents and children building remote-control cars from scratch.
